Matthew Pearson enjoyed the flight of a lifetime in the Boultbee spitfire care of Boultbee LDN who sponsor the Flight Academy and donated the prize of a Spitfire flight to the Estates Gazette Awards.

On the day of Matthew’s flight, he woke up to beautiful blue skies – ideal for flying – and after an hour’s safety briefing, he stepped into the cockpit, ready for take-off. Matthew’s pilot, Chris Hadlow took him down to the South Coast and provided him the real Spitfire experience with some exciting aerobatics.

On landing 30 minutes later, the delight on Matthew’s face was clear to see, he said it was an “amazing experience” that he would like to repeat.

Steve Boultbee-Brooks created the Boultbee Flight Academy with pilot Matt Jones having invested in a Spitfire, with the aim of keeping the memories of part of our proud British heritage alive, whilst also maintaining the engineering and piloting skills required to operate historic warbird aircraft into the future. The Academy has been approved by the CAA (in accordance with AIC 39/2011) to carry out training in the legendary Spitfire aircraft, but most recently, the Flight Academy received CAA approval to fly passengers in Spitfires. Steve comments: “It’s wonderful that the public can now experience these iconic aircraft. We’re thrilled that Matthew enjoyed his flight – I am sure he will savour the moment for many years to come.”

Managing Director for Boultbee LDN, Simon Hosking said this was an ideal opportunity to support Land Aid. He also confirmed that Boultbee LDN will be supporting this prestigious event again this year.
