Sixteen lucky numbers on charity bingo card sponsored by Boultbee LDN won Douglas Green of GKRE a once in a lifetime flight in a World War II Spitfire over the scenic South of England with the Boultbee Flight Academy. The game raised £6,150 + gift aid for Land Aid, the property industry charity that tackles homelessness for young and vulnerable people.
Green won the prize at the Annual Estates Gazette Property Awards, which was held at the Grosvenor House Hotel on London’s Park Lane on September 20th. He was the first to call “Full House’’ in the game emceed by television sports presenter Gabby Logan.
Simon Hosking, Boultbee LDN’s Managing Director, said: "Boultbee LDN is a proud sponsor of the Flight Academy, so we are delighted that offering the opportunity to experience the exhilaration of flying in a Spitfire raised so much for such a worthwhile cause."
Boultbee Flight Academy was founded by pilot Matt Jones with entrepreneur Steve Boultbee Brooks, who invested in a Spitfire to maintain its legacy in design and engineering, and to teach future generations of pilots from across the world to fly an aircraft that is an icon Britain’s wartime history. Two years ago, the Flight Academy secured CAA approval to fly passengers in Spitfires.
Boultbee LDN donated the flight as part of its efforts to help young people. Its other charitable efforts include sponsoring Hub Athletic, the London-based education and sports project.
Almost three weeks prior to the EG Awards dinner, last year’s winner of the heads and tails charity prize sponsored by Boultbee LDN, Citygrove Securities’ Philip Waddell, took to the sky from the Goodwood Aerodrome near Chichester.
“What an amazing experience. Nothing I’ve ever done compares to it,” Waddell said, unable to stop grinning after his 25-minute flight with Norwegian pilot Eskil Amdal at the end of August.
